portrait session run amok

All she wanted was to surprise her husband on Father’s Day with a pretty picture of herself nestled lovingly with their two beautiful young children. Not so much to ask, is it? Well, apparently too much to ask of this photographer……because the above image is what I managed to come up with. Hey, at least the mom is smiling as she’s being mauled by her baby!
Things have been really bumpy for me lately, majorly bumpy, and I’ve had the feeling of my life being a train that has suddenly run amok. (Funny, I’ve gone a whole lifetime without the need for the word “amok” and here it is so bold and appropriate.) For someone who believes as I do, that we create our own reality, running amok is highly questionable. Why would I choose this?
I wonder if when we’ve gone too long in the wrong direction, or been afraid to face uncomfortable truths, we subconsciously pull the rug out from underneath ourselves in order to effect needed change. Change creates friction, which is most difficult for those who covet peace and have a tendency towards the nostalgic. But perhaps resisting change is even more difficult. And when we find ourselves in the place where it feels like life has run amok, the best we can do is hold on tight to what we know inside is true, maintain a sense of humor, and watch for the flow that will eventually carry us out of the muck, and into a new, hopeful direction.
