what she sees

 
I was planning on posting a different image than this one today……felt I’ve shared enough simple head and shoulders portraits recently and needed a bit more variety on this photoblog. But when a stack of proofs fell off my desk and landed in a heap on the floor early this morning I picked up this image from among the clutter and stared at it for the longest time.

She reminds me of me as a child, although she’s much more confident than I ever was. There is something about the way she looks at things that feels familiar. She lets so much in. A wonderful trait to possess when looking at that which is good and positive and life-affirming. Not so great when observing the opposite spectrum.

It can be painful to let so much in.
