I promise you they give me this stuff without being prompted in any way whatsoever. Being quick to respond and ready for the unexpected is the name of the game when it comes to kid photography…….you gotta give up control or they‘ll drive you to drink faster than you can even think of uttering the words, “say cheese“.

Frustration arises when I have my heart set on getting a particular shot and it isn’t forthcoming. When I let go of the “how I think things should be” scenario, look squarely at what is and try to figure out how to make something work with that, I not only get to feel better in the moment, but often am taken down a new path that is infinitely more interesting than the original one.

Well, not necessarily in this case. Ü
