When where you are standing seems impossibly far from where you want to be, awareness of the gulf between the two can bring about a sort of paralysis. The immensity of the journey makes staying put look pretty darn good, certainly less fatiguing. Most definitely less frightening.

Life is always moving though, and despite your best efforts to stay safe and secure *right here*, you may wake one morning to find the landscape around you has changed nonetheless. Disoriented, you try desperately to cling onto something familiar. And while this may offer comfort and consolation for a time, you finally understand that standing still isn’t an option. You have to take a step.
