Another shot of the skateboard kid with good hair from a while back. I noticed it again recently and was kind of taken with his tough and surly “don’t mess with me” demeanor expressed. It got me thinking about a quote from Oscar Wilde where he stated, “Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not the sitter.” Well obviously this isn’t a painting but I wonder if perhaps the same might hold true for photographs created with feeling as well.

I would like to think it true, and that somewhere beneath my docile, people pleasing exterior there dwells one tough kid who won’t be messed with any longer.

Then again, he is 13, and this may in fact be only a portrait of a rather typical young teen. Ü
