boy loses britches

lostbritches.jpg

The insanely windy and rather rigorous beach shoot was over and I was beat. I’d already put my lens cap back on my camera and was walking down the beach towards the parking area when I heard his parents laughing hysterically. I turned around and saw him standing there, his ocean soaked shorts had unexpectedly dropped to the ground revealing last Halloween’s pumpkin underwear and leaving the boy shivering.

Why I did it I can’t be sure, but in a split second I was off and running back towards the boy, cutting my big toe wide open on a sharp coquina rock formation midway there. (What was I thinking?) Still I made it in time and got this shot, which the parents ending up loving and later purchased. Not so sure it was worth the pain my toe endured for several days following the shoot though.

I now suspect that this silly image will haunt this poor child the rest of his life, and I have to wonder if that makes the photographer just a little bit evil for going out of her way to make it. But hey, since I’m all about honest moments, how could I resist?
