lockout

The really sad thing about this image is that it’s one of very few in number from this session where I managed to get all three brothers (under four years old) in the same frame and in focus without headlocks, biting, hair pulling, or extremely tortured expressions. In this brief moment the two older boys were joyfully unified at keeping baby brother from trespassing to the area where I’d hoped to photograph next, but the viewer is spared from seeing the painful anguish (not to mention seriously snotty nose), on the face of the youngest brother. Things only got uglier from here and despite our best efforts this ended up being the last brother shot of the session. So I’m really hoping that the clients will spring for a 30 x 40 canvas of this work of art for over their fireplace. But somehow I just don’t see that happening, and suspect that there’s not even a 4 x 6 in this little photographs future.

Don’t let anyone try to glamorize this profession and convince you otherwise: kid photography is not for sissy’s.
