Something I’ve learned over the years in being a portrait photographer:

In order to sell a portrait to a woman where she is a subject, two important criteria must be met; she has to have good hair and her butt can’t appear large. Exceptions being so rare that I usually don’t bother presenting proofs unable to meet these stringent guidelines. If the child looks so-so but mom has exceptionally good hair going on, I show the proof and there’s a chance it’ll sell. The child is looking really cute but mom’s hair so-so? I know I’ve got a tough hurdle to overcome and will think twice before presenting.

So this portrait fortunately was a yes, a decision made that much easier because the woman didn’t also have to scrutinize her face. Ü
